The meeting was called to order by Vice President Patti Blanton. The meeting was held at 11:30 am at Grace Lutheran Church in Boone. Members brought salads and desserts for a lunch. Thanks to Gail Lund for arranging use of the church and to the committee for set up and clean up.
Guests and new members were welcomed. A new member is Mary Noble. Guests were Betty Weekly from the Greenville Guild and Gail Brandt’s granddaughter.
Minutes of the May meeting were published on the website. There being no additions or corrections they were approved. The financial report was published on the website and was approved.
Georgie McKenzie, chairman of the nominating committee, conducted the new officer installation. New president is Kathy Hill. Patti Blanton is continuing as Vice President. Continuing treasurer is Chris Zimmer and continuing secretary is Sue Stell.
President Kathy Hill called for volunteers for some opening committee chairman positions. For Friendship Quilts Lois Stewart will continue as chairman until end of the year. We will need a new chairman for next year. We also need someone to chair the Newsletter Committee and the Publicity Committee.
Committee Reports: Sue Sweet reminded us of upcoming workshops. On June 19 Jill Sanders will show us how to make a Blossom Quilt. She displayed the one she made and handed out a list of materials needed. On July 17 Georgie McKenzie will lead the workshop on a summer flowers wall hanging. She displayed the one she made. This workshop will cost $10 and materials for the front/top will be provided.
Membership: Adrienne Sherrow reported we have 68 members. Also dues of $20 are now due for this year.
Mystery Quilt: Sheri Elderfield passed out instructions for this month.
Audit: Kathy Hill announced that the audit is complete and they reported a perfect opinion.
Pigeon Forge: Jill Sanders further reported on plans for the trip to Pigeon Forge Quilt Show. We have the contract for the bus and have paid the deposit. Kathy Hill and the board will meet with the committee to discuss further details.
Art Space Display: Sue Sweet said we could still use display items. We have multiple items from some members and have enough for a show. We want to include others who have something to show.
For a program members brought and showed a favorite quilt. We had many heirloom quilts, quilts made by or for loved ones, quilts made with loved ones, and some newer quilts that are destined to become heirlooms.
Respectfully submitted, Susan Stell, Secretary
