Connie Sue Haidle from Apple Blossom Quilts in Webster City, Iowa is going to be in town to teach a workshop and hold a trunk show for the Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild on Tuesday, Aug. 21st.
Connie Sue is a nationally known quilter and has over 9000 subscribers to her newsletter. She is going to be teaching a workshop on Quick Prep Applique. Check out her web site at www.appleblossomquilts.com.
The cost of the workshop is only $20 for guild members, and a kit will be provided to produce a beautiful wall hanging. A picture of this is also on her web site under “workshops.” You do NOT need to bring a machine. You WILL need to bring the following:
1 – fat quarter of light colored tone-on-tone fabric (could be a good quality muslin)
scissors (embroidery. Serrated if you have them)
1 – spool size 40 or 30 light colored thread
1 – spool size 40 or 30 dark colored thread
pins
#2 lead pencil
1 – size 5, 6, 7 or 8 needle (should easily take the size 40 or 30 thread)
Connie Sue would also like you to watch the video on her web site and be familiar with the Appliquer’s Knot and the Quilter’s Knot.
This workshop will be limited to 20 people, so be sure to sign up at the Aug. guild meeting. We are very lucky to have Connie Sue coming through our area this summer. Thank you, Georgie McKenzie for inviting her to visit and hold this workshop. She is also going to hold a trunk show at the end of the workshop to show her beautiful work and to inspire all of us.
